HI THERE, I’m Roberta!

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist based in San Jose, California. I received my Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy from Western Seminary and am currently in my 10th year of practice. It’s been my privilege to work alongside children, teens, adults and families throughout Fremont, San Jose, and Campbell - providing counseling support in outpatient clinics, elementary and high schools, and private practice.

The work I do as a therapist holds immense meaning for me. I strive to create a safe space that serves as a safe haven for healing and growth. My style of therapy is to fully listen, provide a reflection, and gently challenge patterns of behaviors or unhelpful thoughts that keep you from living a life that is fulfilling and whole. I meet you where you are at and give you ownership to set the pace of your work.

I see my role as empowering you to create meaningful changes in your life while honoring your unique healing journey. Throughout the course of this life, you may find yourself experiencing pain, loss, conflict, and dissatisfaction - whether this is in your relationships, work or school life. I believe that you do not have to be defined by your past or current experiences, but rather who you set out to be. Therapy requires both courage and dedication, and I have witnessed many incredible transformations and healing through this process.

Working with clients from diverse backgrounds have shaped me to provide therapy that is culturally sensitive, collaborative, and empathetic. Also, as a daughter of Taiwanese immigrants in the Bay Area, I’ve had to navigate complicated and delicate cross-cultural dynamics across generations. As an Asian American therapist, I understand the cultural nuances and traditional values that are important to be explored in the therapy work. I strive to play a part in combatting mental health stigma and support-seeking for Asian Americans.
